At this year’s Smart Cities Expo World Congress (SCEWC) in Barcelona, Spain, we demonstrated how Hexagon’s technology solutions make cities safer. We featured solutions tailored to meet a city’s end-to-end public safety workflow – from dispatching and call-taking to major event management and analytics. Hexagon’s Geosystems and Geospatial divisions were also on-hand and demonstrated a variety of measurement, analysis, and mapping technologies that spanned the breadth and scope of smart cities.
Hexagon also had a presence in the Microsoft booth. In their connected patrol car, we demonstrated how our solutions empower officers in the field. We also featured the recently launched Intergraph InSight, our new data visualization and analytics suite of products. In Huawei’s area, Intergraph Planning & Response was highlighted on Huawei’s ICT hardware solutions.
During SCEWC, there were many keynotes, solution talks, panel discussions, and more. Several Hexagon executives had the opportunity to share industry expertise and thought leadership to aid cities’ Smart City and Safe City initiatives and strategies. Here are the highlights:

In this solution talk, Max shared how cities can become more resilient and mitigate the risk of failed technology systems through shared data and IT, better collaboration, and more proactive, intelligent operations.
Joint Solutions for Smarter, Safer Cities | Jurgen Nerz, Senior Vice President of Hexagon
Jurgen’s presentation highlighted how Hexagon and Huawei’s joint technologies can help cities become smarter. He reiterated that the key to success is not only building connectivity, but also ensuring cities can use data and capabilities as widely as possible to deliver the greatest utility and value.
Every year, SCEWC recognizes city governments, agencies, and technology companies for innovative approaches that tackle some of the today’s most challenging urban problems. Longtime Hexagon customer North West Fire Control was a finalist for the Innovative Idea Award. The agency manages all fire and rescue services for four northwest England agencies. Through its partnership with Hexagon, North West Fire Control integrated multiple communications and dispatching systems into a central control center, resulting in more than £15 million in cost-savings to date. Although the award went to Cape Town, South Africa’s Affordable Housing Scheme, it was an honor to have North West Fire Control recognized for its efforts to deliver better services to its citizens through multi-jurisdictional collaboration.
