Team members from Hexagon’s Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial division in Spain recently held their annual meeting at the Gil Gayarre Foundation, a nonprofit committed to supporting people with intellectual disabilities and their families. Hexagon’s commitment to inclusion is the inspiration for holding the annual meetings at the Foundation. The aim of the annual meeting is to encourage the team to share quality time, both professionally and personally.
The meeting began with an informal breakfast and a general presentation on Hexagon’s position and evolution by Country Manager Jose Luis Peinado.
The rest of the meeting involved developing various teamwork strategies, with a priority on different workshops, which were shared with members of the Foundation. In return, Foundation members taught the Hexagon team how to transplant different plants cultivated in their facilities, make soap with the help of children from the Foundation and They taught us to model and paint a variety of ceramics.
The Gil Gayarre Foundation was founded to help people with intellectual disabilities reach their dreams through societal recognition of their dignity and value. Hexagon believes wholeheartedly in the mission of the Gil Gayarre Foundation, and that we have much to learn by offering these individuals equal opportunities.
The Gil Gayarre Foundation believes that all human beings are different and unique. The Foundation expects these traits to be acknowledged in people with intellectual disabilities as well. Its mission is to take care of and support individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families and defend their rights as citizens to achieve social inclusion to the highest degree.
To fulfill this mission, the Foundation seeks to involve people with intellectual disabilities and their families alongside professionals and volunteers for the Foundation’s internal functions. Together, the Foundation believes, we can define responsible objectives and achievements to consolidate the common project that unites us all with an innovative and open attitude.
