In August and September 2016, the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, hosted the Games of the XXXI Olympiad and the XV Paralympic Games, which attracted 10,500 athletes and 1.4 million tourists from around the world. The Olympic Games were the biggest event ever hosted by a Brazilian city.
Because resources were limited, the city needed to better target its investments to ensure public safety and security for athletes, dignitaries, and tourists during the games. To help it face this challenge, the Military Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro, known by the acronym CBMERJ, worked with Hexagon to deploy a suite of solutions.
