Today’s Smart Cities depend on data. It can help create efficiencies, improve sustainability, create economic development, and enhance quality of life factors for citizens. To truly create a smarter digital reality, we must start by preparing sound strategies that unite the digital and operational worlds.
Fusing geographic sensor data with business information allows us to view our challenges from a more holistic (and realistic) perspective. The sharp influx of data from sensors and the IoT compels us to create real-time, connected, and digital-first ecosystems that transform citizen services. Motivated by the growing focus on transparency and rapid response, we need a user-friendly way to focus the domain knowledge in our teams to create citizen-first workflows.
These circumstances formed the key theme of a recent Government Computer News (GCN) guest article, authored by Robert Jastram, Senior VP of Sales for North America, Hexagon’s Geospatial division.
The article also highlighted today’s Smart City challenges, how Smart Cities are evolving into autonomous connected ecosystems (ACE), and how to bridge the divide between geospatial and operational worlds.
Hexagon’s Geospatial division is committed to helping cities leverage advanced data visualization and analytics solutions.
- Smart Cities in Action in Baton Rouge, LA: Built upon M.App Enterprise, the City of Baton Rouge has created Hexagon Smart M.Apps to visualize and understand their most pressing problems. The Smart M.Apps are not only helping the Mayor-President’s Office and the District Attorney analyze and visualize blighted property data, but they also empower the Finance Department to utilize the power of location by providing accurate answers to the questions about lost tax-exempt revenue by location.
- Integrytis Visualizes the Impact of Pollution on Public Health: Using the LuciadRIA solution by Hexagon’s Geospatial division, Integrytis enhanced its EPOD big data platform to dynamically visualize the richness of data collected and processed. The new perspective offers them a better understanding of health concerns that plague citizens and health organizations in France.
- Interactive Dashboard for Monitoring Road Conditions: Based on the Hexagon Smart M.App technology, the Municipality of Tynaarlo in the Netherlands is using dynamic, interactive spatial dashboards to monitor the quality of roads in their jurisdiction. The municipality uses the solution to correlate road information such as location, building materials (asphalt, concrete, and pavement), and usage with budget and policies, using actual data collected over the last ten years.
Hexagon’s Geospatial division offers best-of-breed innovations that solve the widest range of challenges for Smart Cities. By combining location-based data and business intelligence, we empower your municipality to service the needs of digital and safety-related city developments in real time.
