WATCH: Hexagon empowers statewide dispatch for North Dakota

In North Dakota, you have to be prepared for some brutal winter weather, especially on the road. No one knows that better than the men and women who are responsible for getting first responders where they need to be – not just in the snow- and ice-filled weeks – but all year-round. Across 26 counties.

North Dakota State Radio dispatches for all those counties, including more than 300 agencies and two statewide agencies, handling approximately 280,000 calls per year.

A longtime Hexagon customer that used I/CAD for years, the department needed a next-generation computer-aided dispatch solution to manage the size and scope of its operations. While it was happy with I/CAD, it was time to make a change. Recently, North Dakota State Radio migrated to HxGN OnCall Dispatch, an integral part of Hexagon’s public safety platform.

The migration has improved dispatch and emergency response coordination for events of all sizes, according to the department, which said it allows them to understand the size and scope of events and keep information clean – minimizing clutter on screens. Another big plus is the organization got to “keep” what it liked from I/CAD, and benefit from all the advantages of OnCall Dispatch.

But don’t take our word for it! Watch the video and hear what North Dakota State Radio Deputy Director of Operations Miranda Jangula and Team Lead Breana Hoynes have to say.
