Vodcast: Swatting – Predicting, preparing and responding

In this episode of Public Safety Speaks, experts discuss swatting – placing a fake 911 call (or even an email) with the hope of eliciting an emergency response.

NPR reported in February that more than 800 swatting incidents happened in the last nine months, both for public figures and private citizens. These dangerous incidents put both first responders and the public at risk.

Listen as Hexagon’s Chris Carver (an FDNY veteran) and Heather McGaffin (director of the Office of Unified Communications in Washington, D.C.), John Chiaramonte (president of consulting services for Mission Critical Partners) and Mark “Fletch” Fletcher (vice president of public safety solutions for 911inform) discuss how public safety experts are working to address this dangerous trend.
