On the heels of Hexagon’s global user conference – HxGN LIVE 2019 – in Las Vegas, HxGN LOCAL Czech and Slovakia 2019 held on 19-20 June, captured the spirit of Hexagon’s newly announced changes to its user conferences. The company recently announced that the global conference, which has been held in Las Vegas for the past several years, is moving to a two-year cadence. It will return in 2021 as HxGN LIVE Global. The regional, local, and industry-specific events around the world such as this user conference in the Czech Republic, now formerly called HxGN LOCAL, will return as HxGN LIVE events as well. By promoting more HxGN LIVE conferences, Hexagon aims to broaden their scope and accessibility to customers and prospects around the globe.
Nearly 6000 miles (9600 km) from Las Vegas, this annual event in the Czech Republic seems well positioned to take on the HxGN LIVE name. Located in the Hotel Chateau Valeč which is nearly a halfway meeting point for Czech and Slovak attendees, the conference provided meeting points in even more ways than just its location:
- Although Geospatial division attendees have been coming to this event for years, this year marked the second annual multi-divisional event, which was organized by Geospatial, Safety & Infrastructure, Manufacturing Intelligence, and PPM. This event hosted a total of 250 attendees.
- Corporate and divisional keynotes included Hexagon’s aim of delivering Smart Digital Realities – digital replicas that enable autonomous decision-making such as inventory delivery adjustments based on work progress and crew availability. These included Hexagon’s local solutions for Digital Technical Map, an initiative of the Czech government for the centralization of geospatial utility infrastructure data.
- Sessions ranged from presentations on new features in the 2019 release of the Geospatial software portfolios, to workshops that included live point-cloud data of the conference hotels being captured and published to the web, to an augmented reality demo based on Xalt, Hexagon’s innovative framework for helping customers accelerate their data leverage capabilities.
- Performances by the PartyLeaders band and illusionist Robert Fox on the first day were followed by an orienteering run (a timed race that tests both speed and navigational skills) and an encryption game on the second day. The events provided plenty of opportunities for attendees to network as well as have some fun.
We want to thank the Czech and Slovak conference presenters and attendees who participated in this event that successfully packed such a wide range of information, as well as opportunities to meet colleagues, into only two days.
