Autodesk Revit is leading building information modeling (BIM) software used by architects, engineers and construction professionals to create detailed 3D models of buildings and infrastructure. These models contain not only the geometry of structures, but also rich metadata about materials, systems and spatial relationships. As we celebrate 25 years of innovation with Luciad, we’re excited to announce a major leap forward in our geospatial platform: LuciadFusion now supports Autodesk Revit data! This further completes the LuciadFusion BIM capability, already including direct support for Industry Foundation Classes (IFC).
This means that complex BIM can be integrated into your geospatial applications even more seamlessly. LuciadFusion not only decodes the 3D geometry of Revit models, but also extracts valuable attribute data, such as material types and building layers.
We’ve made it easy to get started with Revit data in LuciadFusion. Our documentation now includes dedicated sections and tutorials, and we’ve updated the LuciadRIA IFC sample to showcase Revit data visualization. Try it out yourself!
By leveraging LuciadFusion’s powerful 3D tiling capabilities, you can serve your Revit data as OGC 3D Tiles effortlessly, ensuring optimal performance and scalability in your applications.
Imagine the possibilities:
- Urban planning: Visualize building footprints, heights and attributes alongside other geospatial data to inform urban development decisions
- Emergency response: Combine real-time location data with building information to optimize emergency response planning and execution
- Facility management: Create interactive 3D models of facilities for maintenance, inspections and space management
Nowadays it is typically a requirement to view BIM data in its geospatial context. LuciadFusion is the most complete product in terms of supported types of geospatial data. Indeed, LuciadFusion supports the cataloging and dissemination of imagery, vector data, multidimensional raster data like weather forecasts, elevation data, point clouds, 3D meshes, BIM data and panoramic imagery. All these data types can then be combined as needed into a Luciad-based client application to view the BIM data together with its geospatial surroundings.
