Originally setup by Patricia Anderson of the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office in California in 1981 and signed into law by President Bill Clinton in 1994, National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (NPSTW) is now a nationally celebrated week-long event.
This year, the week of April 9, 2018 honors the dedication of the men and women who serve as 911 call-takers, emergency dispatchers, radio and phone technicians, and other communications experts.
When it comes to the worst moment in someone’s life, telecommunicators are always there to answer the call and stay on the line until help arrives. They are also the lifeline for police, fire, and EMS professionals.
